Tillamook is about 15 miles from the coast, but it has a number of tourist attractions. It is also just east of Oceanside and Netarts, which are two terrific small cities with beautiful beaches just south of Cape Meares. While in Tillamook, make sure to visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory. You can see the workers making dairy products, browse their small stores, and even get a tasty treat for the kids and yourself.
Just south of Tillamook, the Air Museum is terrific place to visit. There are a number of vintage aircraft on display as well as a small restaurant and gift shop. You can easily make an afternoon out of this visit. Further south of Tillamook is Munson Creek Falls, a 265-foot waterfall that is the highest waterfall along the entire coast range. Another must see is the Cape Meares lighthouse and park. Enjoy numerous amazing views from Cape Meares and visit the Octopus Tree, so named after its amazing size and shape.
Tillamook is a perfect vacation spot for those interested in visiting tourist attractions and fishing. If you are looking for amazing views of the Oregon Coast and proximity to the Cape Meares area, you will want to stay in Netarts or Oceanside.
